What is your background?
I have a PhD in computer science from the University of Maryland Baltimore County, USA. I worked on bandwidth and latency reduction in video streaming (more information can be found here at https://pavan4.github.io/aboutme/). Prior to moving to London I was working in a startup in the connected retail space building ‘Klikify’ at Stockholm. Klikify is a game changing technology that transforms existing retail display systems into a multi-user interactive system for IoT in retail, otherwise termed as connected retail. Why did you apply to come to the UK over other countries?
I have been selected to Europe’s top deep tech accelerator, Entrepreneur First. I moved to London to join the accelerator and build my own deep tech startup in the video space utilizing my background. London is at the center of Europe in terms of access to capital, growth opportunities, and an amazing talent pool for a start-up. That, combined with a powerful platform such as EF, gives me the perfect opportunity to start a technological company. This was the primary reason to come to the UK.
What are your current plans? / What projects are you currently working on?
I am currently working as a Senior AR researcher at a startup that has come out of Entrepreneur First in Augmented Reality (AR) space, Selerio. Besides working on the startup, I am an independent consultant in the video space helping build products for other startups in my spare time.
